We are incredibly proud to celebrate a special milestone for Scarletts Netball Club, as Iona has become the first coach to qualify through the Scarletts Whistle & Wisdom Fund!

The Whistle & Wisdom Fund was created to help support and develop the next generation of coaches within our club, providing opportunities for young people to gain qualifications, build confidence and develop their skills both on and off the court.

With the support and backing of the fund, Iona has successfully completed her Level 1 Netball Coaching qualification, marking an exciting new chapter in her netball journey.

Throughout the process, Iona was mentored by Scarletts NC Head Coach Georgi, who supported her as she developed her coaching knowledge, confidence and practical skills.

Georgi said:

“I am beyond proud of Iona and the work she has put into her coaching. When meeting Iona nearly two years ago, I would not have believed the young lady stood in front of me would be pursuing a career in coaching, but she has grown in confidence and skill so much over the last six months.

“It is incredible that as a club we can support young people to pursue sporting success, both on and off the court. I can’t wait to see what Iona achieves next!”

For Iona, gaining her qualification is just the beginning.

“I’m so excited to have qualified as a Level 1 netball coach through the Whistle & Wisdom Fund. I am so grateful for the support I received throughout the course and look forward to developing my coaching with the Scarletts family!”

Investing in the future of coaching

Iona’s achievement is exactly why the Whistle & Wisdom Fund exists.

At Scarletts, we believe that developing people is just as important as developing players. By creating opportunities for young people to take their first steps into coaching, we can help build confidence, leadership skills and a lifelong connection with our sport.

Iona is the first coach to benefit from the fund, but we hope she will be the first of many.

Congratulations, Iona! We are incredibly proud of you and can’t wait to see where your coaching journey takes you. 💙🏐
