Whistle & Wisdom Fund

Whistle & Wisdom Fund

Your netball journey doesn’t have to stop at the sideline.

At Scarletts Netball Club, we believe that young players can have an impact both on court and beyond it.

The Scarletts Whistle & Wisdom Fund has been created to give our young members the opportunity to take their next step in netball — whether that means picking up a whistle, stepping into a coaching role, or developing the skills and confidence to become a future leader within our club.

Through the fund, Scarletts will part-fund recognised coaching and umpiring qualifications for eligible young members.

Because we don’t just want to develop better netballers.

We want to develop confident, capable people who can pass on their passion and help shape the future of netball.

What is the Whistle & Wisdom Fund?

The Whistle & Wisdom Fund supports young Scarletts members who want to develop their skills through coaching or officiating.

It is designed to:

  • 🏐 Develop the next generation of coaches and umpires
  • 💪 Build confidence and leadership skills
  • 🗣️ Give young people valuable communication and decision-making experience
  • ❤️ Encourage our players to give back to the club
  • 🌱 Create opportunities for younger members to learn from and be inspired by older players
  • 🔥 Help build a sustainable future for Scarletts Netball Club and grassroots netball

Whether you’re interested in leading a session, supporting younger players or taking control of the whistle, this could be your opportunity to get started.

Why Coaching & Umpiring?

Being involved in netball isn’t just about playing.

Coaching and officiating can help you develop skills that stay with you long after the final whistle.

Confidence

Learn to communicate clearly, make decisions and trust yourself.

Leadership

Take responsibility, support others and become someone younger players can look up to.

Game Understanding

See netball from a different perspective and develop a deeper understanding of the game.

Experience

Gain recognised qualifications and practical experience that can strengthen future applications for education, employment and further sporting opportunities.

Community

Give something back to the club that has supported your own netball journey.

The Scarletts Expectation

A funded place isn’t just about gaining a qualification.

It’s about what you do with it afterwards.

Successful applicants will be expected to:

  • Attend and complete the relevant qualification course.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to supporting Scarletts Netball Club.
  • Use their new qualification to contribute to the club where appropriate.
  • Support the development of younger players and future generations of Scarletts.
  • Look for opportunities to put their new skills into practice through coaching, assisting sessions, umpiring fixtures or supporting club events.

We don’t expect you to know exactly where your qualification will take you.

That’s the point.

The Whistle & Wisdom Fund is about giving you the opportunity to take that first step.

From Player to Leader

At Scarletts, we’re proud of the fact that our club is built around people who pass on their passion.

Today’s junior player could be tomorrow’s coach.

Today’s defender could be tomorrow’s umpire.

Today’s nervous teenager could become the person standing on court next year telling a new player:

“You’ve got this.”

The Whistle & Wisdom Fund is about creating those opportunities.
